Using Student-Led Initiatives to Deliver Bilingual Emergency Preparedness Training to Rural and Tribal Emergency Services

Emergency preparedness efforts in rural and Tribal communities often require culturally and linguistically appropriate training resources. This session presents a proposed model in which students develop and deliver bilingual emergency preparedness education for first responders and emergency personnel. Attendees will learn how higher education institutions can partner with emergency service agencies to address workforce development challenges while helping students gain practical experience. The discussion will focus on feasibility, sustainability, and opportunities to expand academic-community partnerships that strengthen emergency preparedness capacity and improve communication across diverse populations.
