Luis Villagomez is a Referral Specialist at the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health in Brownsville. A U.S. Navy veteran, he served from 2001 to 2006 and was deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Luis earned a Bachelor of Science in Health with a minor in Rehabilitation Services from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. His experience includes working as a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Community Health Worker, and Community Health Trainer. Drawing on his diverse background in military service, healthcare, and public health, Luis is dedicated to reducing barriers to care, advancing health equity, and empowering communities through health education, outreach, and improved access to services that support better health outcomes.
